The Artist
Hindol Deb is a preeminent sitarist and composer based in Cologne, Germany. As a professional Hindol offers Indian classical music as well as different cross-cultural music project performances, sitar and Indian music lessons to students of all levels. Trained in the authentic lineage of Hindustani classical music by his father Sri Panchanan Sardar and renowned gurus Pandit Santosh Banerjee and Pandit Deepak Choudhury, Hindol combines deep classical roots with contemporary musical exploration through jazz, world music, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Hindol regularly gives performances of solo Indian classical music, together with his world-jazz quartet, large jazz-crossover ensemble Samhita, symphony orchestras, collaborative projects at festivals and venues. As an experienced teacher, he teaches Indian classical music, raga theory, sitar techniques and masterclass, deeper insight into modal music, emotion and improvisation to students of all levels in-person and online. His collaborative projects have been featured at major festivals in India, Europe, and North America, demonstrating how traditional Indian classical music can flourish through meaningful dialogue with diverse musical traditions and artistic perspectives.
